Ukrainian Defense Tech Startup HIMERA Raises Over $2.5 Million to Scale Secure Communications
Ukrainian defense technology startup HIMERA is rapidly emerging as one of the most consequential players in the global secure communications market. The company has raised over $2.5 million in funding to scale its electronic warfare resistant tactical communication systems, signaling strong investor confidence in Ukrainian defense innovation and its growing relevance far beyond the battlefield.
The investment round was led by Green Flag Ventures and included participation from Ukrainian and international investors such as Nezlamni Fund, United Angels Network, Freedom Fund, VYTACH, Big Defence, UA1 VC, Varangians, Bulava Capital, and private individuals. The capital will be used to expand manufacturing capacity, accelerate research and development, strengthen communications reliability in contested environments, and support HIMERA’s expansion into international defense and public safety markets.
HIMERA was founded in 2022 by Mykhailo Rudominskyi in the early months of Russia’s full scale invasion of Ukraine. The company was created in direct response to a critical operational problem faced by Ukrainian forces: the vulnerability of conventional communications to interception, jamming, and disruption under intensive electronic warfare. From its inception, HIMERA focused on building practical, battlefield ready solutions shaped by continuous feedback from frontline users.
At the core of HIMERA’s offering are compact tactical radios and network components engineered specifically for use in high interference environments. Its flagship G1 Pro handheld radio, alongside repeaters and network extenders, supports secure voice, data, and GPS transmission through frequency hopping, mesh networking, and advanced encryption. These systems are designed to maintain communications even when adversaries attempt to suppress or exploit electromagnetic signals, providing military units with reliable connectivity in some of the most demanding operational conditions.
Unlike many traditional defense suppliers, HIMERA has developed its products through rapid iteration under real combat use. Its equipment has been deployed across a wide range of Ukrainian Defense Forces units, where it has been tested under constant electronic attack. HIMERA is now actively fulfilling contracts across Europe and the United States. In late 2024, the company delivered its tactical radios to the U.S. Air Force Research Laboratory for evaluation, marking a significant milestone in its international expansion. In 2025, HIMERA was also named among a small group of Ukrainian defense technology firms awarded contracts with the U.S. Army, representing one of the first documented cases of Ukrainian military technology entering the U.S. defense procurement ecosystem.

The company is collaborating with U.S. secure communications firm Reticulate Micro (now RMX Industries Inc.) and Canadian cybersecurity company Quantropi to enhance scalability and integrate next generation encryption, including post quantum security capabilities. These efforts aim to future proof HIMERA’s systems against evolving cyber and electronic threats while ensuring interoperability with allied defense infrastructures.
HIMERA has also benefited from participation in PwC’s Scale Defence and Resilience Tech Programme, which supports Ukrainian defense companies in refining business strategy, strengthening governance, and engaging with European and transatlantic defense partners. This ecosystem level support has helped position the company not only as a hardware supplier, but as a long term contributor to resilient communications architecture across military and civil security domains.
The latest funding round will allow HIMERA to further scale production, accelerate development of next generation systems, and expand network coverage for military units, emergency responders, and law enforcement agencies. The company’s broader objective is to integrate its technologies into wider segments of the defense technology landscape where secure, low probability of intercept communications are essential to mission success.
