Rune Technologies Raises $24M Series A for AI-Enabled Military Logistics Software
Rune Technologies, a leading innovator in military logistics, has secured $24 million in Series A funding to advance its AI-driven predictive software, specifically engineered for contemporary and contested battlefield environments. The investment round was led by Human Capital with contributions from Pax VC, Washington Harbour Partners, and existing backers Andreessen Horowitz, Point72 Ventures, XYZ Venture Capital, and Forward Deployed VC.
The new financing round comes amid escalating demand for Rune’s flagship solution, TyrOS, which is redefining logistics tracking, forecasting, and management for military operations. The funding will go toward expanding TyrOS deployment into other U.S. military services. David Tuttle, Co-Founder and CEO of Rune Technologies, stated, "Our mission is to ensure that military logistics sophistication aligns with our operational capabilities. We have observed substantial interest across various branches seeking solutions superior to traditional whiteboards and spreadsheets currently utilized for logistics management. This funding will enable us to accelerate the rollout of TyrOS to support sustainment operations throughout the joint force."
TyrOS’s key advantages lie in its technical capabilities as a mission command platform for logistics. It utilizes deep learning models, including time series analysis, to anticipate supply and demand for personnel, transportation, equipment, sustenance, and other resources using hundreds of variables. TyrOS’ edge-first architecture signifies a major evolution in military logistics technology. By situating intelligence at the tactical level, TyrOS minimizes reliance on constant connectivity to external servers, allowing systems to function autonomously and synchronize upon reconnection.
Retired Major General Duane Gamble, former Army G4, remarked, "Rune addresses the enduring challenge of forecasting, planning, and executing logistics within dynamic and contested environments. In my 37-year career, much time was devoted to the science of logistics. TyrOS utilizes AI/ML and advanced engineering to automate these processes, liberating logisticians and commanders to concentrate on strategic operations. It represents a significant advancement."
Leveraging expertise gained from service across all branches of the U.S. military, Rune Technologies integrates practical battlefield insight into its solutions. The company emphasizes closing the innovation gap between Silicon Valley and defense logistics by deploying engineers directly alongside warfighters, iterating based on immediate operational feedback.
Ross Fubini, Managing Partner at XYZ Venture Capital, added, "The modernization of core Department of Defense systems with best-in-class technology is critical, and Rune is at the forefront, streamlining granular tasks so logisticians can prioritize strategy. Our continued investment reflects confidence in their far-reaching impact and the necessity of this transformation."
To date, Rune has delivered TyrOS in support of both U.S. Army and U.S. Marine Corps initiatives, with plans to leverage this latest funding to broaden deployment across other branches of the armed services. Rune was also recently selected for the Palantir Startup Fellowship and announced integration with Palantir's Defense OSDK (Ontology Software Development Kit) earlier this year, further enhancing automated logistics from the tactical edge to the strategic command level through open-architecture frameworks. The Series A marks Rune Technologies' second funding round, following its initial seed round in February, bringing total capital raised to over $30 million.
