Redwire Acquires Edge Autonomy, Becoming A Global Leader in Defense Technology with Multi-Domain Solutions.
Redwire Corporation (NYSE: RDW) announced the completion of its acquisition of Edge Autonomy Intermediate Holdings, LLC and its subsidiaries, a provider of uncrewed airborne system technology. The acquisition takes the space technology company into the unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) business. Redwire shareholders approved the transaction, first announced in January, on June 13, 2025. The deal is a major milestone for Redwire as it grows into a profitable aerospace and defense technology firm specializing in integrated autonomous operations.
The acquisition positions Redwire as a leading space and defense technology company, focusing on integrated autonomous operations for defense and national security. The combined company is set to deliver innovative space and airborne platforms, enhancing connectivity between airborne and space-based systems while enabling AI-enabled, autonomous operations across multiple domains and orbits. This transaction also expands Redwire’s global manufacturing and innovation presence, with over 1,300 employees and more than 628,000 square feet of manufacturing and production capabilities across the U.S. and Europe.
By accelerating Redwire’s growth and strengthening its financial profile, the acquisition is expected to boost Redwire’s revenue, Adjusted EBITDA, and Free Cash Flow. Moreover, it integrates Edge Autonomy’s UAS technologies, creating new and advanced capabilities for Redwire’s customers.
Peter Cannito, Redwire’s Chairman and CEO, stated, “We are pleased to complete this acquisition that establishes Redwire as a global leader in the aerospace and defense sector. With Edge Autonomy, we aim to transform multi-domain operations and provide advantages to U.S. and allied warfighters. We look forward to leveraging our combined capabilities for critical missions and creating value for Redwire’s customers and shareholders.”
This $925 million acquisition includes $160 million in cash and $765 million in Redwire stock. For the twelve months ended December 31, 2025, Redwire’s projections showed combined revenues of $535 million to $605 million and Adjusted EBITDA of $70 million to $105 million with positive Free Cash Flow (assuming the transaction with Edge Autonomy had been consummated on January 1, 2025). NASA has selected Redwire to manage a space microalgae biotechnology experiment on the ISS, exploring microalgae as sustainable astronaut food. Redwire’s Mason technology for lunar and Martian infrastructure has passed NASA’s Critical Design Review. This $12.9 million project aims to build features like landing pads and roads on extraterrestrial surfaces. These advancements highlight Redwire’s position as a new leader aerospace and defense.
