Overwatch Imaging Raises $6 Million to Accelerate Deployment of AI-enabled Automated Sensor Operator (ASO) Software
Overwatch Imaging, a leader in airborne imaging systems and intelligence automation software, has secured $6 million in venture capital funding to accelerate the market launch and expansion of its AI-powered Automated Sensor Operator (ASO) software through strategic partnerships. The financing round was led by Squadra Ventures with further participation from SEMCAP AI, the Elevate Oregon Venture Direct Fund, and Edo Capital, underscoring the substantial prospects for AI and autonomous advancements in the national security and emergency management sectors, particularly within intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) operations.
The ASO technology developed by Overwatch Imaging enables real-time autonomous operation for both new and legacy electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) video imaging systems. It offers intelligent sensor control, automated data analysis, and mission-specific outputs, effectively reducing operator workload while providing enhanced detection capabilities. Greg Davis, founder and CEO, stated, “Our team has established a customer-focused business that supports daily mission-critical operations across defense and civil markets. Over the past year, we have maintained positive cash flow, amassed extensive unique image data and customer feedback, and invested substantially in R&D to advance our ASO software for integration with partner imaging systems as well as our proprietary Smart Sensors. We consistently encounter similar requirements from agencies: increased sensing and timely intelligence, balanced with reduced data management and lower crew demands. This investment will expedite the delivery of our ASO software globally and further progress autonomous airborne ISR capabilities.”
Guy Filippelli, Managing Partner at Squadra Ventures, said, “Overwatch Imaging’s ASO technology will immediately elevate underutilized assets across various government departments- domestically and internationally-by bringing scalable, operationally relevant AI-enabled automation to users. The team’s achievements across domains and deployment worldwide are impressive, and we are fully supportive of this next phase as they directly influence future mission outcomes.”
Alongside expanding the reach of its ASO software, Overwatch Imaging will continue advancing its Smart Sensors, which are optimized for automation by integrating advanced multispectral imaging hardware with ASO software. These solutions address applications such as wildfire detection, maritime domain awareness, border security, and infrastructure inspection. Deployed globally with a diverse client portfolio and a range of aircraft, including manned and unmanned platforms, Overwatch Imaging’s Smart Sensors deliver efficient, real-time, wide-area intelligence in dynamic and resource-constrained settings.
Walter Buckley, Co-Founder and Co-CIO of SEMCAP AI, added, “We are enthusiastic about Overwatch’s efforts to enhance and automate geospatial intelligence and look forward to supporting Greg and his team in accelerating their growth and continued success as they revolutionize time-critical intelligence collection and analysis.”
