Gambit Announces Exit from Stealth Mode with Strategic Partnerships

Gambit AI, a dual-use software company that enables autonomous teaming and instant adaptation by multiple unmanned systems, emerged from stealth last week, announcing it had been awarded two Defense Department contracts worth more than $500 combined, as well as commercial partnerships with AWS' public sector defense autonomy division, Sierra Nevada Corporation, L3Harris Technologies, and RTX to scale delivery.
Gambit’s team, comprised of seasoned professionals from the Pentagon, Defense Innovation Unit, Marine Corps, Air Force, SpaceX, Unity, and Virgin Hyperloop, is dedicated to delivering intelligent and seamless interoperability across diverse platforms, including aerial drones and ground robotics, regardless of manufacturer. According to CEO Josh Giegel, who helped architect the reusable rocket at SpaceX before founding and leading of Virgin Hyperloop, Gambit aims to enable sophisticated programmatic solutions to operational challenges, drawing inspiration from transformative technological concepts.
The company, headquartered in Los Angeles, California, has made significant progress since its founding in 2023. In addition to partnerships with AWS, L3Harris Technologies, RTX, and Sierra Nevada Corporation and its recently announced contracts with the Pentagon, Gambit holds contracts with the Air Force and U.S. Central Command for initiatives involving multi-sensor fusion, adaptive autonomy, and self-learning across robotic fleets, and has participated in military exercises involving the Army and Special Operations Command, occasionally fulfilling the role of ‘red team’ in simulated engagements. Gambit’s AI-native technology has notably surpassed both incumbents and neo-primes in Department of Defense-sponsored military exercises, such as Army T-REX and SOCOM’s Technical Exercises.
Former National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster, who recently joined the company as an adviser, stated: "Gambit delivers true platform-agnostic physical AI for national defense. Gambit's technology provides a critical, and currently unmet required capability for the U.S. joint force and other agencies with national security responsibilities."
Unmanned and autonomous systems are increasingly regarded by military organizations as critical assets across all phases of operations. However, effective integration and adaptability among disparate systems remain ongoing challenges. Gambit positions itself as a provider of advanced autonomy capable of learning, adapting, and collaborating cohesively.
Chief Commercial Officer Ben Richardson stated that clients have observed robust performance from Gambit’s offerings. The company is supported by investors including Eclipse and Marlinspike. Looking ahead, Aidan Madigan-Curtis, partner at Eclipse and Gambit board member, commented that the next 12 to 24 months will be pivotal, demonstrating the Department of Defense’s evolving procurement approaches and alignment with innovative companies such as Gambit. “Self-learning intelligence woven across robotic fleets is the future of defense,” said Madigan-Curtis. “Gambit’s approach to collaborative robotics and physical AI in communications-denied environments seemed impossible - until they demonstrated it.”
